I'm happy to report that our mother eagle has laid eggs and is on the nest. Papa eagle is working diligently to keep the family fed while one of them is in the nest at all times. I had hoped to get a closeup of him fishing upstream, but it seems there has been a change in the families habits, and they are now fishing somewhere downstream

Colorado – Keep Releasing Wolves
According to this update by Colorado Parks and WIldlife (CPW), no additional wolves will be released in 2026. Reasons cited are interference from the federal government and objections from western slope ranchers. Some lawmakers object to funding the program when the state is experiencing a budget shortfall. In my opinion these excuses aren't sufficient reason to override the will of the voters.
A Monochrome Start to 2026
It wasn't something that I intended, or set out to do, but it seems that monochrome photography might be a recurring theme in 2026. A renewed interest in black and white film can be partially attributed to a road trip to Denver, with an inevitable stop at Englewood Camera to look at the used gear. On that trip I discovered an FD 100-300mm manual focus lens at a price impossible to ignore. That particular lens just happens to emply a 58mm filter size, the exact size of my set of monochrome filters.
Hope Eternal
I wasn't going to make this post until I got the negatives, so that I could do the high res scans. But I got my low res scans today, and I'm excited enough about the results to at least put out a hint of what is to come this year!
Winter Wonderland 2026
The holidays are behind us, and I'm getting back into my photography routine. This weeks adventure took me to Eleven Mile Canyon, in search of our bald eagle pairs. Unfortunately I was only able to capture one sighting, but a new winter storm has arrived in the area, and I was able to capture a few ghostly images of the snowy landscape.
Out With the Old, In With The New
2025 is now behind us, and it was a productive year for my business right up to the very end. I finished out the year by publishing the Christmas Episode of my serial novel, The War On Wildife, and a photoshoot at Eleven Mile Canyon. I had hoped to photograph our bald eagle nesting pair, but was fortunate to capture some beautiful American dipper images instead. With the holiday distractions now behind me, I can take a bit of time to reflect on what was accomplished, and what lies ahead.
