Winter Sunshine

Frozen Aspen

It seems the bitter cold of the last few days is finally behind us. The sun was shining this morning and this little aspen grove caught my eye with the golden light of sunrise upon them and snowy mountains behind. The wind was blowing pretty hard at the summit so I didn’t linger long, but I made sure I captured this scene adequately 🙂

Notice the remnants of the morning alpenglow effect on the Sangre de Cristo Range in the background. It was more intense a bit earlier but I wasn’t fast enough to get to the overlook in  time.

As I drove into Victor I spotted a little herd of young mule deer feeding on a street corner so I stopped for that shot too. I was hoping to get a capture without the street in it, but they were right on the corner so that proved impossible. A cruise up Victor Pass yielded this nice shot of the south face of Pikes Peak and then it was off to the Gold Camp Bakery for some biscuits and gravy 🙂
