Total Remake of my Site

Storm Clouds on the Sangre

The plans of mice and men… The plan was to travel about Colorado, climbing mountains and taking pictures of wildlife, publishing books, making videos, and writing this blog. But of course the minute I implement my grand plan, gas shoots up to $5 per gallon and the country goes into recession. Businesses quit advertising, people quit buying luxury items and my grand plan is in jeopardy.

So I am out of wedding, commercial and portrait retirement, with a whole new website! I’ve added pages for wedding photography, boutique portrait photography and commercial photography including commercial and fashion plus model portfolios. It’s been a while since I have shot a model portfolio but I’m sure I “still got it”!

Of course I had to add a few images to my media library and I updated my WordPress package to include the professional email system using the @swkrullimaging.com ID. So anyway, please feel free to give the new site a visit, and give me a share if you like my idea!

Big Update for the 4th

I’m not a fan of rapid change, I created my landing page a few years ago and haven’t changed the main substance of it since! My professional photography path which began in the early 90’s was geared toward weddings and portraiture, H.S. seniors, glamour portraits and models. At one time I was running a successful studio in Denver and was having the time of my life.

Fourth of July Glamour

Then came the 08 crash and the decade that followed was not kind. My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in 09 and in the years to follow, nearly everything was lost… the studio, our home, most of our stuff and eventually her life. It was in the darkest days following that experience that this blog was born. I didn’t have the studio anymore so I had sold most of the lighting equipment to raise cash for medicine and treatments. But through it all I held on to my best camera body and my precious Canon 70-200 F4L lens, my wildlife lens. It was with that humble equipment that I had to start anew.

Following her passing, wildlife and 14ers were my life, the photography equipment I had was sufficient for a new start in those activities so I crafted a blog site within those parameters. One winter day I put my camera on a tripod and snapped a profile image of myself which became the signature image on my WordPress site. Lol, and it has remained on the page from then until today 🙂

In the last couple of years I have recovered financially and have been able to acquire the latest in light weight modern lighting gear with all new battery technology to power a restart of my model portfolio and portrait business specializing in the natural outdoor imagery that modeling agents prefer. So over the last couple of months I have been remodeling my site to include my new equipment and capabilities.

And so, it is for this 4th of July I have finally uploaded a new signature image to my landing page. It’s appropriately one of my favorite models and images that I shot before the big crash. I hope you enjoy the image and the new direction my photography is taking!

Of course I will continue to enjoy and write about my mountain wildlife adventures, that will never change. My time spent with nature is what sustains me and rejuvenates me when my mind becomes weighted down by the cares of this life. Nature is where I go to find peace and re-connect with my Creator and Savior.

So stay tuned!!! Exciting times and new creations are on the way!!! There will be pictures and videos that will be shown exclusively on my Patreon Channel so I hope you will join me there! In addition to exclusive posts there, you will be eligible for cool merchandise and monthly gifts, so I’m sure you will find the channel to be an awesome bargain!

Withdrawal

My favorite place in the world is the alpine tundra high above the treeline and it seems like forever since I have been there. Definitely feeling the effects of adventure withdrawal 😦 My last summit was Mt. Columbia in the summer of ’16. Since then it has just been one thing after another… Money, injuries, truck repairs, you name it 🙂

Finally though, the settlement for the work injuries and the down payment for a house and a new start in a new town with a new job! With the hardship, problems and bad memories of Woodland Park behind me I was looking forward to exploring my new piece of the Colorado Rockies! But then, the fateful grinding noise from somewhere in the bowels of my truck. Best guess… Throwout bearing or flywheel bearings 😦

Looks like the snowshoes, micro spikes and poles will remain in the closet indefinitely while I wrangle up the funds for yet another repair. No trails within walking distance here, not that I can find anyway.

On the other hand, the economy is finally picking up and I am starting to see a pickup in print sales, my bread and butter when it comes to photography 🙂 Maybe it won’t be so long! Maybe a view like this one from the summit of Mount Elbert will not be so distant after all.

Also my photo lab has added a ton of new products including some that would make for cool Christmas gifts including the latest, yoga mats custom made with one of my images 🙂 just click the print sales button in the menu to bring up my image galleries and once inside a gallery just click your favorite picture to see all the cool products that are available!

Sorting Out

Up until now I have tried to manage all my photography endeavors under one hat. However it has come to my attention that there is just too much traffic on my one main facebook page, S. W. Krull Imaging. I have wildlife advocacy posts there, stock photography, wedding photography, portrait photography, model photography, sports and journalism all going on in one fan page and it just looks overwhelming.

My original intent was for the Imaging page to be for my stock photography business and related items to be showcased there and I am going to return that page to it’s roots. That page will be only for the stock photography and the events that I photograph under that umbrella, including outdoor sports and recreation, wildlife and nature photography, and photo retouching.

I have moved the wildlife advocacy posts to a special page devoted to animal welfare only. I hope if you are interested in the critters that you will visit my new page and give it a like!

I have also recently launched a separate page for wedding photography. Please visit and like my S. W. Krull Weddings page if you have an interest in wedding photography!

Exercise, fitness and fashion have been moved to a new fitness and modeling page, which is where indoor exercise sports, fitness, fitness model and fashion model photo shoots and informational posts have been relocated to. So if you have an interest in exercise and fitness and modeling, please hop in on that page and give it a LIKE!
