Autumn in Garden of the Gods
Autumn is always a beautiful time in Garden of the Gods Park in Colorado Springs. I was especially eager to get down there this year, because I have earned three free rolls of film developing at the camera store. Unfortunately I plucked a roll of severely expired film from the drawer that was intended for a test shoot only of an old film camera that I'm not sure works. So, in this post I'll discuss how to make the best out of a day with a roll of 15 year old expired 400 speed film.

Photographing the 2025 Elk Rut
We just returned from a few days photographing the elk rut in Rocky Mountain National Park. The last few times Kevin and I have visited the park, including an adventure to Yellowstone, we were thinking we were probably too early for the full experience. This time we thought delaying the trip until October might result in cooler weather, smaller crowds, and perhaps a more vigorous rut season.
Stunning Autumn Hike in Colorado’s High Country
I have to say, this has been a spendid autumn, as fall colors go in the high country of Colorado. Sometimes we get too much rain and sometimes we get an early winter storm that blows the leaves all the way to Nebraska. But this year we have been blessed with warm calm days, and the colors are fabulous.

Exploring Peak Aspen Colors in Colorado
Aspen leaves in many parts of the state of Colorado are reaching peak color this weekend. A brief excursion around the Cripple Creek and Victor area revealed a variety of gold and red colors adorning vast swaths of aspen stands in the 10,000 foot elevation range.
