Ecological Catastrophe: The War on Wildlife

May finds us on the precipice of an unimaginable ecological catastrophe. Mining, ranching and hunting interests have aligned with the new administration in an all out blitz to strip away all reasonable environmental and species protections. The judiciary in it's zeal to oppose every trivial move Trump makes, is setting itself up to forfeit it's power on issues that actually matter.

This was a day that I have been eagerly awaiting for months. The osprey have completed their 4,000 mile journey across two continents, to arrive in my favorite Canyon some time this week.

When the Answer Comes

I saw a report first thing this morning about the first cattle depredation from one of Colorado's new wolves from Canada. I wondered, bow many cattle froze to death this winter, how many starved, how many died from disease. Why aren't those losses reported in the paper. Why are wolf losses the only ones getting any press?

A Silver Lining for Wildlife

Last night Colorado provided the silver lining proving that the forces of good and compassion for our four footed friends can prevail. Last night the Mountain State passed it's ballot initiative banning the hunting and trapping of big cats. California has already banned fur trapping, and with enough work and education perhaps it will be possible to implement a national trapping ban like over 100 civilized countries through the world have already done.
