The birds are back in town... at least they are at Manitou Lake. Our short adventure there yesterday yielded, blue heron, American white pelican, red-winged blackbirds, hummingbirds, an osprey, and one ground squirrel looking for a meal.
For many of you who have been following my blog for many years, the Three Amigos are a familiar sight. But after a long cold winter, it always brings my heart joy to see them in the spring, happy, healthy, and still together after almost a decade of following them.
Finally getting to my May newsletter, after a month of hard work on my new substack account. May has been an exciting month, with the end of the long Colorado winter, and the return of many species of birds to the high country rivers and lakes.
WE HAVE EAGLETS - Mama eagle has remained in the nest long past the projected hatch date, so we assumed there were baby eagles to care for. But was it one, two, three? We didn't know until now, but I have confirmed there are at least two!
Fox Family Healthy and Strong - For those of you who have been following, I'm glad to report mom and dad, and all six pups are doing well!
With all the new life popping up all over the Rocky Mountains, it's getting difficult to keep up with all the picture processing!
God was smiling down upon me yesterday when an elk herd appeared out of nowhere to give me an opportunity to finish a video I've been working on!
This was a day that I have been eagerly awaiting for months. The osprey have completed their 4,000 mile journey across two continents, to arrive in my favorite Canyon some time this week.
I don’t make the trip to the city very often, but I’ll go when I finally cobble together enough activities to make the long trip worth while! I finished off a couple rolls of film a few weeks ago, and have been looking for the opportunity to make a trip to my favorite lab, Englewood Camera. To really make the trip worthwhile, I also planned on making a cold call at a local bookstore to see if they might stock my series of novels, Spirit of the Wolf and Thundering Hooves.
The months are flying by and spring is rapidly approaching! It seems like I just got done writing the last newsletter, but it's already time for my March Edition!
