Exploring Horsethief Park in Winter

Sentinel Point Colorado

Exploring Horsethief Park in the snow was something I've been wanting to do for a while now. I've been on this trail in winter before, up to the falls anyway, but I've never taken the fork to the north at the beaver ponds. I've been wanting to take my film camera to the ponds and shoot in monochrome for some time now, and this was the day. I had a few frames of Ilford FP4 left in my old Canon A-1, and I took it up the trail to finish them off.

Money, injuries, … Continue reading Withdrawal

Footsteps Trailhead

The Sangre De Cristo were extra beautiful this morning so I decided on the dead end road … Continue reading Footsteps Trailhead

Running the Numbers

River running that is! Most summer days are pretty mild here at almost 9,000 feet at the base of 14,115 foot Pikes Peak. However once in a while it becomes apparent just how close Colorado is to the hot desert land of the southwestern United States. Yesterday was one of those days. I have always … Continue reading Running the Numbers

Excellent Adventure

Well it appears that I am back in business after a couple of months without my favorite lens, my Canon 70-200 zoom. It finally came back from the Canon repair shop with a broken roller replaced.. whatever that is, and some lubrication, cleaning and refocusing. I've had it back for a little while, but too … Continue reading Excellent Adventure
