Last Day for Thundering Hooves

Wild Sand Wash Mustangs

Today is the last day my readers can celebrate Wild Horse Protection Month with a free eBook copy of Thundering Hooves. The month is almost over, and the book will go back to it's regular price starting tomorrow.

Happy Solstice

Thought this might be the perfect time to get my spring solstice, end of winter newsletter published! Coincidentally, I just got back a couple of rolls of film that I've been working on throughout the winter, just in time for this publication.

Cold Call: A Road Trip to the City

Streets of Littleton Colorado

I don’t make the trip to the city very often, but I’ll go when I finally cobble together enough activities to make the long trip worth while! I finished off a couple rolls of film a few weeks ago, and have been looking for the opportunity to make a trip to my favorite lab, Englewood Camera. To really make the trip worthwhile, I also planned on making a cold call at a local bookstore to see if they might stock my series of novels, Spirit of the Wolf and Thundering Hooves.

Why March is Wild Horse Protection Month in Colorado

Thundering Hooves book cover

I’m pleased to see that Colorado governor Polis has designated the entire month of March as Wild Horse Protection Month. This of course makes my historical romantic adventure novel, Thundering Hooves: Spirit of the West all the more relevant. Up until very recently, our government’s Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has been getting away with the wholesale destruction of our wild horse herds almost without public notice.

Photography Adventures: Spotting Bald Eagles in Colorado

Bald Eagle in Flight

My Heart Still Flutters when I'm driving through the canyon and I spot the stunning white head of a majestic bald eagle in a tree ahead. And it was no different on this weeks sunrise Photography Adventure with the Bald Eagles of Park County Colorado.

Wildlife Photography: Capturing Colorado’s Elk on the Mountain

Colorado Elk Herd

After an absence of over two years, the elk herd is finally returning to my mountain! The last time I saw them, it was autumn and they were feeding early in the morning on the summit of Big Grouse Mountain.

Panoramic Views of Sangre de Cristo Mountains

Sangre de Cristo Winter

My project for the day was a visit to the Colorado Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range to shoot a panoramic image of the magnificent block fault range with a winter storm and a fog bank rolling in. It took me two days to capture all the images for this post, including the fog bank and deer herd on the second day.

Winter Adventure With Bald Eagles

Bald Eagles in the Canyon

It was another beautiful Colorado afternoon for a winter adventure with the bald eagles of the annual migration. Eleven Mile Canyon in Lake George was mentioned as a location for eagles making the long trip for the winter migration, so I thought I'd check it out.

Sky Dancers: Bald Eagle Breeding Season

Bald Eagle Pair

We arrived at Eleven Mile Canyon to a scene few could imagine or have been so privileged to witness. Our bald eagle nesting pair was soaring together in what could only be described as a moment of pure joy as they closed in on each other and clasped talons in a beautiful dance high in the blazing blue Colorado sky.
