This post has been a long time coming. Last winter I loaded my old Canon A-1 film camera with a roll of Ilford Delta 400 to see if I like it better than the venerable HP5 emulsion. In addition, I will be testing out my new yellow and orange filters to see what effect they have on this film stock.

Here are the Sangre de Cristo Mountains photographed on monochrome film with a yellow filter. You can see good contrast and detail in the clouds, which would not be as pronounced without the filter.
Please consider watching the Youtube Video on this subject complete with the rest of the images from this test, entitled “Monochrome Photography in the Rocky Mountains”!

Also if you would like to learn more about my photography, and how to capture stunning photographs for yourself, please consider a purchase of one of my photo books from my Author Page!
This particular book is filled with dozens of full color images from over two decades of digital imaging, including notes and stories about the images with tips and tricks on shooting dramatic images for yourself!
