Capturing Nature: My Pentax IQ Zoom 105 WR Experience

It’s taken a while to shoot a roll of 36 in the Pentax IQ Zoom 105 WR. It required a trip to the Rocky Mountain Arsenal coupled with a hike in the Garden of the Gods to get the job done! For this test I used a roll of Fuji 200 speed film. The WR stands for Weather Resistant, which is the main reason I also bought this version in addition to the IQ Zoom 200. This version of the IQ Zoom has no mode wheel, and very few external controls, to avoid as many entry points for dust and moisture as possible!

Trees at Sunrisse

We arrived at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal just after sunrise a couple weeks ago, and thought this grove of trees was very picturesqe. As it turns out I think they were, and my little Pentax works splendidly!

The bison weren’t really cooperating, but I was able to get this nice capture of a pair of them with the Colorado Front Range in the background!

Climbers in Garden of the Gods

Here we have climber and friends in the Garden of the Gods. The lighting was terrible behind the big sandstone rock formation but the Pentax still did a nice job.

I made good use of the top button that cycles through flash modes, auto, flash on always, and flash off. For these outdoor pictures I used the flash off mode. There’s also another simple little button on top that can select a mode for landscape pictures, assuring that the camera focuses on the distant horizon.
