Happy Winter Solstice 2025

Today is the day when the sun reaches it’s southernmost position in the sky, and begins the journey north in it’s march to summer. Of course the sun is not moving around in the sky, but the solstice is “the shortest day of the year, marking the official start of winter, and happens because Earth’s tilted axis points farthest away from the sun in one hemisphere.”

We’ve had one good snow, but it has long ago melted, leaving us with a barren landscape that isn’t very photogenic. The sunsets of course have been stellar, which you would know based on my recent posts.

But other than that, it’s been a pretty tough winter, photography wise.

My serial novel, The war On Wildlife is coming along well, all the groundwork for the story has been laid, and my characters have already been on several exciting wildlife adventures!

The book is proving to be timely, as the war against our four footed heritage continues to rage. H.R. Bill 845 recently passed the house, with seven Republicans voting no. The bill will premantently strip the gray wolf of endangered species protections, paving the way for it’s extinction at the hands of ranchers and hunters who chare nothing for nature or the environment.

You can read The War on Wildlife for free on my Substack account, along with it’s prequels, Spirit of the Wolf, and Thundering Hooves, which introduce the story and it’s characters which you will follow through the trilogy. Wildlife Series

If you are concerned about endangered wildlife in the western United States, please consider purchasing my series of historical fiction wildlife novels, as told through my group of fascinating fictional characters. In the first of the series, Spirit of the Wolf, you will learn the story of the most famous Yellowstone wolf of all time. Thundering Hooves tells the exciting story of Picasso, the famous stallion who ruled over the Colorado Sand Wash Basin for over two decades.

It’s too late to order for Christmas now, but now is still a good time to get your 2026 Colorado wildlife calendar, and there are plenty of new prints for sale on my website to decoarate your home and buy cool birthday presents for those loved ones who have celebrations on the horizon!
