I wasn’t sure if I was going to write the final installment of my historical fiction wildlife novels, following Spirit of the Wolf and Thundering Hooves. However, the wildlife situation in the nation, including the unprecedented attack on the endangered species act, has taken such a horrific turn under the Trump administration that I feel compelled to complete the series.

I’ll be publishing this one a bit differently however. I will be publishing the chapters one at a time on my substack, under the heading “War on Wildlife“. It has taken me a while, but I think I finally have the hang of that new platform in my repertoire, and my page is finally organized to my satisfaction.
At one point I tried to publish Spirit of the Wolf that way, but there is apparently no interest in my writing on WordPress. In any case, I haven’t yet started the novel, but my characters will be picking up where they left off at the end of Thundering Hooves. So if you are interested in my work on the new platform, head over to photographer and author stevenwkrull on substack and take a look!
In addition to my new novel, I will be publishing in depth photography articles behind the paywall there. Those articles will be filled with technical details, directions to wildlife areas, best practices and tons of technical details regarding how to shoot and edit wildlife images. Our day with the burrowing owls will be my first paid subscriber article in my photography section on Substack!
Of course I will continue to publish articles here on WordPress including wildlife advocacy information that my WordPress readers have come to enjoy.
