One of my goals for 2025 is to provide a monthly newsletter to communicate important developments at both S.W. Krull Imaging, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and the U.S. Parks service. Programs that I will be watching closely this year include, the Colorado wolf reintroduction program, species protected under the Endangered Species Act, and the important news affecting our national and state parks.
Welcome to 2025 in Pictures

I hope the new year finds you all healthy and happy! Unfortunately of course, I pray for many who are still recovering from the hurricanes of 2024, and for the thousands displaced by the LA fires in California. I have family near those flames and will be keeping a close eye on the progress of the fire fighters.
2025 is already off to a great start in Colorado. Many nesting eagles have returned to their nests to prepare for the 2025 breeding season, and we hope we have a bumper crop of eaglets filling the skies next summer when they take flight! Of course I plan to be monitoring the developments closely, and providing updates on my weekly blog and YouTube channel! Of course the best images will be published on my website for purchase as wall art and cool gift items, shipped directly to your door!
I just got the notice that my author copies of my newly published novel, Thundering Hooves are ready for pickup at the post office! I have been talking to several local book stores about putting my wildlife series of historical fiction novels on the shelves, so soon the books might be on display at a store near you! The series I’ve been working on for the last two years includes the books, Spirit of the Wolf (Forever Wild – Eternally Free) and of course Thundering Hooves (Spirit of the West).
In addition to my novels, I have a series of photography books filled with hundreds of my best images through over two decades of digital photography! These books will have you shooting like a pro in the rugged mountains of Colorado in no time! Links to all my books can be found on the website.

My stock photo portfolio continues to grow, and I’m proud to announce that my iStock / Getty port has exceeded 8,000 images and my Adobe Stock port will soon hit the 5,000 mark! As you may have heard, Getty Images and ShutterStock have reached an agreement to merge, and I’ll be watching that closely and reporting on the developments.
Another high note for the start of the year was my first sighting of my three favorite mule deer bucks, in the high country near my home in Cripple Creek! I’ve been tracking this band for years, three bucks that I have named The Three Amigos. Unfortunately the addition of Rita the troll in my open space has driven the three friends far from their original stomping grounds, which makes me quite sad. Before the hordes of troll worshippers chased away all the wildlife, the three bucks were able to use the blacksmith shop for shelter during the winter snowstorms.

Their new home is far to vast for me to be able to count on seeing them regularly, much less every day. In fact, given the size of their new range, it’s possible that I will never see them again. Just the same, I am glad to find them alive and well, and still hanging together. Godspeed Three Amigos!

Some great news to start of 2025 is that US Fish and Wildlife has declined the western state’s request to remove grizzly bears from the Endangered Species Act. They saw through all the misguided excuses issued by these western state politicians for what they were, a return to the 19th century wildlife policies that brought these animals to the brink of extinction in the first place.
Colorado has also declined to succumb to pressure from special interest groups who are at odds with the will of the people, and modern wildlife management practice. The ranching and hunting industries tried to stop the Colorado wolf reintroduction in it’s tracks late this year, but thankfully CPW has decided to ignore them and as of this writing, I believe that our second batch of wolves has been released into the wild, somewhere in the western mountain range.
On a side note, special interests are attempting a second statewide ballot introduction to reverse the law mandating wild wolves in Colorado. If you see their representatives petitioning in front of stores and other public venues, please do not sign their petitions. Do not let them get their selfish desires on the ballot.

And last but not least, don’t forget to get your own S.W. Krull Imaging 2025 Wildlife Calendar! It is filled with beautiful pictures of wildlife from my 2024 adventures in the Rocky Mountain West!
