After an absence of over two years, the elk herd is finally returning to my mountain! The last time I saw them, it was autumn and they were feeding early in the morning on the summit of Big Grouse Mountain.
Exploring Horsethief Park in the snow was something I've been wanting to do for a while now. I've been on this trail in winter before, up to the falls anyway, but I've never taken the fork to the north at the beaver ponds. I've been wanting to take my film camera to the ponds and shoot in monochrome for some time now, and this was the day. I had a few frames of Ilford FP4 left in my old Canon A-1, and I took it up the trail to finish them off.
My renewed interest in film photography has revealed an interesting paradox.

It's the prime time of year for the bighorn sheep rut season. The weather was forecast to be obliging, so we loaded up the bikes and traveled to Waterton Canyon for another bighorn sheep adventure.

I was happy to see my fall film pictures arrived in my Dropbox yesterday from Englewood Camera! I shot this batch on my recently acquired and tested Canon EOS Elan 7, and Kodak Ektar 100 film. I chose Ektar for it's' fine grain and brilliant color and contrast. Some say Ektar Color negative film rivals the amazing quality of Kodak Ektachrome slide film.
