Don’t let life’s great milestones slip by without capitalizing on the opportunity to build your brand. Some captures, such as this one aren’t going to be possible for you or your friends to shoot with your phones. For example on this shot I had to climb out onto a rock in the middle of a river and use a professional 400mm lens to frame the best composition.
Other times, professional lighting will be needed to get the picture right. In this scene, the sun was setting behind the subject and her horse. I used my Sekonic incident light meter to get the correct exposure for the sunset scene in the background, while lighting the model with my professional lighting and softbox to balance the scene.
If your personal brand includes action sports, the photographer will need to be able to control the shutter speed to freeze the action. In this scene, my shutter speed was set to a 1000th of a second, while the aperture and ISO were dialed in to include the proper depth of field. Once again, using my incident light meter, I was able to calculate the exact exposure to show off the highlights in the runner’s hair.
Once again, the incident light meter was required to provide the perfect balance of backlighting and additional lighting from a gold reflector in the front.
