Just as a new batch of wolves are set to be released into the Colorado Rocky Mountain wilderness, the ranchers launch a new bid to kill the wolf project. The headline on a CBS news article reads, “Efforts underway to stop wolf reintroduction in Colorado with popular vote”. Please do not sign their petitions to get their new initiative on the ballot. If you don’t stand up for the wolves now, the headline of this post will be the next headline you see in the Colorado newspapers.
So the ranchers illegally shoot and wound the alpha male of our newly established pack so that he can’t hunt, and then moan and cry when the pack is forced to turn to easy prey to survive. And then they somehow think their antics are going to turn the public in their favor and call for a popular vote to rescind Colorado’s wishes for a return to a more natural landscape that includes wolves.
Not only do they want to kill the wolf project, they will also kill all the eco-tourism revenue that would be sure to result from regular wolf sightings. Their selfishness will literally rob Colorado of a billion dollar industry.

If you are interested in the politics of wolf politics and the pack life and social habits of wolves, please consider a purchase of my first book in a series of wildlife novels called Spirit of the Wolf (Forever Wild – Eternally Free). Your purchase will help this site to continue reporting on the status of our wolf project, and also my work in helping to preserve and protect our beautiful wild and living heritage.
