Yesterday was a big day! I received my first proof copy of Thundering Hooves (Spirit of the West) from Amazon, so I can examine the cover layout and the manuscript format.
I was quite happy with the formatting of the text, but the cover needed a bit of color and opacity balancing. The cover image came out unexpectedly dark following conversion to CMYK, and the main characters were too faint.
I also had to considerably shrink the author name. Although a giant name banner might work for a few of the more famous authors, I think just a small attribution will be fine for this humble writer 🙂
So after a few minor adjustments in Photoshop and InDesign, this is the my new front cover!
So, after a few more days of corrections to the text, I’ll be sending off for another proof copy. Then if all goes well, I will be able to publish this novel sometime in October!
