Yesterday was a big day! I received my first proof copy of Thundering Hooves (Spirit of the West) from Amazon, so I can examine the cover layout and the manuscript format.

I was quite happy with the formatting of the text, but the cover needed a bit of color and opacity balancing. The cover image came out unexpectedly dark following conversion to CMYK, and the main characters were too faint.
I also had to considerably shrink the author name. Although a giant name banner might work for a few of the more famous authors, I think just a small attribution will be fine for this humble writer 🙂
So after a few minor adjustments in Photoshop and InDesign, this is the my new front cover!
So, after a few more days of corrections to the text, I’ll be sending off for another proof copy. Then if all goes well, I will be able to publish this novel sometime in October! In the meantime, if you would like to get acquainted with the main characters, please be sure to get your copy of the first book in this series, Spirit of the Wolf!

Spirit of the Wolf (Forever Wild Eternally Free) is a beautiful coming of age story that begins in the Bay Area of California when photographer Caleb meets beautiful Lacey who is putting herself through fashion school as a dancer in a local club. The two fall in love while advancing their careers, which threaten to tear them apart. As Caleb and Lacey struggle to define themselves, Caleb reads of faraway Yellowstone National Park, where another species is struggling to find it’s place in the world.
Spirit of the Wolf can be purchased in paperback on Amazon and eBook on Kindle
