First Snowshoe of the Season

Storm on the Sangre

New Snow

Actually it’s pretty early for the first snowshoe of the season these days… We haven’t gotten much snow for the last few years and often I don’t get the snowshoes out until the big wet snows in March. It was nice to have a few inches of powder to work with today! And we are supposed to get even more on Sunday night. I actually hope it comes in a little early.

The Hike

I didn’t get out for the brand new snow yesterday, but I planned for a sunrise hike today. Much to my surprise the snowshoes were just as I left them at the end of last year. There was no adjusting of the straps required so I just put them  on and took off! The Sangre de Cristo were beautiful at the overlook on the summit so I stopped for a few captures.

I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed the mountain!
